This challenging hike starts right at the Felsenheim. Follow the path past the fountain towards Biberwier. Shortly after the Hotel Mohr Life Resort, you will reach the “Bachtlweg” junction on the right side of theroad. The Wachtersteig trail starts after the last buildings on the left. Follow the trail until just before Biberwier until you see a sign for “Grubigstein”. From here, set off on the steep path through old trees until the forest becomes thinner and you reach the Grubigläcke, a beautiful biotope. You have now reached the Grubigalm;
from here, follow the signs to Wolfratshauserhütte. The view from the terrace will delight you. Take a short break here, then continue to the left of the hut briefly before a steep but secured path takes you into the Gartner Alm. Once you’ve arrived in the valley, it’s not far to the Gartner Alm.

This rustic alpine pasture offers food and drinks, and you can now take a short break before heading down into the valley on the left side of the stream. From the Untergarten district you reach Gries. Continue along the Höhenweg towards the Felsenheim.
